STATEMENT

Shihan Qiu is a graduate student in information, interaction, and innovation design, Tsinghua University. She is interested in information visualization, human-computer interaction design, user experience design and innovative design of traditional culture and crafts. She received her bachelor’s degree in THU Art and Technology (Information Design) in 2023.

Watch the Beijing Opera : A sound visualization installation based on the excerpt from the Beijing Opera “The Drunken Beauty”

This work combines the sound data of the singing voice in the excerpts of the Beijing Opera “The Drunken Beauty” with the image of the Phoenix Crown of the Concubine, and utilizes acrylic materials, dynamic lighting and mechanical structures to present and realize the sound visualization of the excerpts. And through the interaction in the exhibition hall, it brings the audience a brand new experience of “watching the opera”.
